EXCLUSIVE: Aït Menna splash the cash for HUSA internationals

Shocking news coming out of Mohammedia, as Chabab Mohammedia’s powerful president is trying to raid Hassania Agadir for their best players.

Hicham Aït Menna means business. Only days after rumors of a potential takeover in France, the current president of Chabab Mohammedia have gone all guns blazing in an effort to take his club to the next level. SCCM are currently sitting join-top of the table in Botola 2, nearing another promotion and long awaited return to the Moroccan top-flight, after years of struggle.

Despite Hassania Agadir’s brilliant performances during the last couple of seasons, reaching a Throne Cup final and playing in the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals, it certainly hasn’t scared Aït Menna away. According to Maghrib Foot’s information, Aït Menna have contacted the president of Hassania Agadir, Habib Sidinou, with an offer for four key players, in an effort to bolster their squad. They are left-back Abdelkarim Baadi (24), centre-back Soufiane Bouftini (26), midfielder Karim Aït Mohamed (20) and striker Karim El Berkaoui (24).

The proposed transfer fee is believed to be around 12 million dirhams (€1.1m) for the four Morocco internationals. Baadi was included in the Atlas Lions’ Africa Cup for Nations squad last year, Aït Mohamed is one of the most promising talents of the 2000 generation, while both Bouftini and Berkaoui are integral parts of Houcine Ammouta’s local national team. The latter was on an incredible goalscoring run prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and has attracted interest lots of from foreign clubs.

Although HUSA are still in a financial struggle and several of the aforementioned players are on shorter contracts, it’s hard to see them letting go of four key players in the same transfer window. But regardless of that, the ambition and confidence of Aït Menna’s SCCM should put Morocco’s top clubs on high alert for what’s to come.
