Wydad’s young prodigy will join up with the Atlas Lions in Egypt as a possible replacement for Marouane Da Costa.
Wydad Athletic Club have confirmed on their website that Achraf Dari (19) will travel to Egypt as soon as possible. A great reward for the young centre-back after a fantastic season with his boyhood club, winning the league and reaching the final of CAF Champions League.
Dari has already trained with the national team in previous camps and has a high standing within the federation. His leadership and grit are rare qualities for a player his age and Hervé Renard is seemingly impressed.
Marouane Da Costa has been struggling with a thigh injury the last few days and although he did take part in training Wednesday, it looks like he might have to withdraw from the competition. If so, Dari will be his stand in and in that case, the second Wydad player to take part, alongside goalkeeper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti.
