Expected at the Maamoura Centre for check-up with the national team doctor on his supposed injury, Hamdallah decided not to show up.
The Moroccan football federation (FRMF) announced on Thursday that Abderrazak Hamdallah had suffered injury to his back and hip, which would rule him out of the Africa Cup of Nations. They followed up with informing that the Al-Nassr striker would meet with doctor Abderrazak Hefti, to follow up on his injuries.
But for the expected check-up on Friday, Hamdallah never showed up to the Maamoura Centre in Salé. Dr Hefti explained the situation to Radio Mars, where he admitted that the injuries were never the reason behind the withdrawal:
“He (Hamdallah) told me that he didn’t feel comfortable in the team and that he wouldn’t be able to give more to the national team. In my role as a doctor, I therefore decided to justify this by linking it to the pain he felt a few days. We agreed to see each other today, but he never showed up,” Dr Hefti explained to the local radio station.
